Respirator Fit Testing

Quantitative Fit Testing is considered as the industry standard for frontline workers and employees exposed to hazardous particles as part of their duties. Respirator fit testing is used to ensure the mask you are required to wear for work fits your face properly. You will need to bring the specific mask you'll be wearing on a day-to-day basis for the test.

Why is Respirator Fit Testing important?

  • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employees who work in a hazardous environment to wear respirators. These respirators protect the wearer against toxic atmospheres, allowing them to breathe with reduced exposure to respirable toxins. However to be most effective, a Respirator Fit Test is necessary to ensure proper fit and function while in use.

What is Respirator Fit Testing?

  • Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing gives a numeric fit factor result as required by many U.S. regulatory groups such as OSHA.

When does this testing need to be utilized?

  • If you are starting a position that utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • If you already currently are using PPE but have had a changes in your face such as weight loss or gain, surgery, scarring, or heavy dental work. â€‹
