PEth Testing

Phosphatidyl Ethanol

Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) is a highly sensitive alcohol biomarker that can detect current regular alcohol consumption. It can differentiate between heavy and moderate/occasional drinkers and can monitor abstinence within the past month. PEth is a direct marker for alcohol intake and is not affected by, gender, health, or previous alcohol issues. The window of detection is typically one month, and daily consumption of more than 60g of alcohol is required to increase PEth concentrations above the upper cut-off value.
