With this test it can be early detection of heart disease. These levels elevate when inflammation is noted in the body. There is a CRP test that test on the low side for arthritis inflammation but this test is a high sensitive test that can detect if your at risk for heart attack or stroke. Only 50% of people with high cholesterol are at risk due to the damage done to the arteries. With a high LDL level and a high CRP level your at even a greater risk for heart disease. You do not have to be fasting for this test.
